PNG Independence Day 2024

Easily the most anticipated day on the Papua New Guinean calendar, Independence Celebrations in PNG are big events usually involving several festivals, shows and fireworks. The country will be 49 years old in 2024. This day is set aside as a Public Holiday to celebrate the day Papua New Guinea became an Independent State from Australia, 16 September 1975.

New Ireland Day 2024

The Provincial Executive Council passed a decision for the Declaration of New Ireland Day on the 27th of July every year as a public holiday.

New Ireland Day celebrates the first time in 1977 that the New Ireland Provincial Assembly met upon receiving the Provincial Government Charter.

The 2024 celebrations will be held on 27th July at the Silom Primary School in Central New Ireland.
